Tour Plan
The tour begins at 0730 hrs when our professional tour guide picks you up from the hotel/airport. After a comprehensive briefing about your safari, you will start the 6 hour drive to the Maasai Mara main gate with a stop over at the scenic Great Rift Valley escarpment. The next stop will be a couple of hours later in Narok where you can stretch your legs and do some shopping before driving into the reserve. Upon arrival, check in to your preferred lodge/camp for lunch and some refreshments. Later on after a relaxing break our tour guide will pick you up in our exclusive 4x4 landcruiser or safari van for your first game drive of the day. The cool temperatures and sunset creates the perfect wildlife viewing at this time of the day. Later on in the evening drive back to your lodge/hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Early in the morning after breakfast you will depart the camp/lodge with packed lunch and spend the whole day in the park. The Maasai Mara is famous for its diversity and numbers of big cats like the lions, leopards and cheetahs. It is also known for its abundance in other wildlife species such as the elephants, zebras, topi, giraffes, bufallos and other large game. Black rhinos are a little shy and are usually hard to spot but are often seen at a distance if you are lucky. After a long morning game drive, the guide will take to a scenic spot amidst the savannah plains where you will have a picnic lunch and later on continue with the game drives till sunset where you will be dropped of at your camp/lodge for a warm meal and an overnight stay.
This day’s itinerary is very flexible and you can discuss with your guide how you would want this day to proceed. You can either have breakfast and depart the camp/lodge at 0900 hrs with packed lunch and spend the whole day in the park, then later on in the afternoon after lunch visit the Maasai cultural village, which is a way of familiarizing yourself with how the maasai people live. Their huts are built of mud, sticks and cowdung which a sight to behold. The Maasai village visit is also famous for their cultural dances, beadwork and learning how to make a fire by rubbing sticks together. Alternatively, You can have an early morning game drive, return to your camp/lodge for breakfast and relaxation enjoying the camp/lodges amenities. Later on depart for an afternoon game drive till sunset when you will be dropped back at the camp/lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
NB - The Maasai cultural village is arranged at an extra cost
After a relaxing breakfast, our guide will help you check out of the hotel. Have one last game drive as you head to the exit gate. Apart from the big five, Maasai Mara also boasts of a wide array of bird species, forestry, bushes and thickets, and an atonishing array of smaller wildlife like hyenas, jackals, warthogs, gazelles and foxes. Heading back to Nairobi you will make one last stop for a quick lunch before being dropped back at your preferred hotel or airport.Â
